Recently, we've had a rash of illnesses go through the family. For some reason, I completely forgot to immediately put my children on garlic. I was feeling awful for about a week and then suddenly thought of beginning a garlic regimen. I felt better the next day.
I have found the book Prescription for Nutritional Healing, Fifth Edition: A Practical A-to-Z Reference to Drug-Free Remedies Using Vitamins, Minerals, Herbs & Food Supplements to be the best book I know of to aide a family in choosing supplements and herbal remedies for natural healing. Not only are these natural remedies good for the overall health of the individual, but they typically cost much less than going to the doctor and getting prescription medicines or over the counter remedies.
Take an initial dose of 2 1000mg Spring Valley Garlic or Kyolic Garlic capsules.
Follow-up taking 1 1000mg Spring Valley Garlic or Kyolic Garlic capsule with each subsequent meal.
Drink lots of water.
What's the Savings?
This depends greatly on if you have insurance or not, if you have co-pays or deductibles, and your level of side effects with medications. For me, not having the side effects I get from antibiotics greatly increases my savings because I typically have to treat the side effects as well.
We'll act as though we have a co-pay for the doctor and insurance for the prescription.
Cost of Spring Valley Garlic capsules:
There are several formulas of Spring Valley Garlic capsules. I choose a basic one of $8.54 for 120 capsules. Kyolic Garlic is a bit more but also works very well.
Kyolic capsules 8 cents each * 18 average capsules taken per sickness = $1.44
Cost of average doctor visit and prescription for generic antibiotics:
$20 doctor visit co-pay + $4 for generic prescription = $24.00
