I discovered that I can make a lot of simple projects just using sheets. Second hand stores like Goodwill have twin sheets for $2 a piece, which is over 2 yards of fabric. That is enough to make pajama pants, a swimming over shirt, a skirt, a shirt, or a few aprons. You can find all sorts of practically new sheets at second hand stores in all sorts of prints. I even found some striped sheets to use as pants for a pirate costume. If you find a matching set of a fitted and flat sheet, that is enough to make a dress. Of course, most sheets are a cotton blend. Occasionally you can find rayon, t-shirt, or silk sheets.
